Forum for Commercial Property insurance?
Can a surplus lines carrier request copies of receipts and or cancelled checks from a general contractor or the insured in order to receive a final payment. I am not referring to an invoice for the work performed, but all the little details involved in putting the job together. Is there a forum to get questions like this answered
This is in reference to a property claim. No audit involved. This is just to receive a final payment on a claim.
admin answers:
Yes – and it’s not about surplus lines, either.
I think they’re trying to verify that the replacement materials were purchased, and labor was charged to install them.
The question is a bit vague, though, and I can’t figure out how “forum for commercial property insurance” ties into a claim issue.

Ken asks…
What are the benefits of teaching as a career.?
I would like for an experienced Educator, or Educators, to answer this question for me:
I’m interested in being a teacher. I don’t want to limit myself to one grade division. By the end of my teaching career, I have a goal to have taught people from all grade divisions (grades Kindergarten through College).
Currently, I am a college student who is completing the Associate in Arts in General Studies. Afterwards, I’m going to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Education (not sure of what specialization yet). And of course, after these degrees, I plan to enter Graduate School in pursuit of the Master degree, then the Doctorate degree (again, I haven’t decided in which fields).
Please be sure to include comments about things like:
Health and insurance coverage
Salary
Vacation time
Sick/Emergency/Maternity leave
Continuing Education
And any other relevant benefits of a teaching degree that you can mention.
Thank you so much for your answers.

I have been an educator for 30+ years. I have taught pre-school and grades 7 through 12 as well as at the college level. I admire your goal. I am curious as to whether you plan to finish your education goals before getting into the classroom or at the same time as teaching.
In either case, let me try to answer some of your questions.
My insurance benefits are not the best but they are adequate. I do pay extra for dental coverage. The drug benefits are a lifesaver.
After 30+ years I have finally made it over the $50,000 mark. Other occupations pay more, but this is what I was called to do.
Vacation time is good. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring break, Summer. They all coincide with my own kids.
Sick leave is good. State and local days can accumulate. Our district has a sick leave bank that we can join. I have enough days stored up that I could call in sick for a whole year.
Continuing Ed is required but if it is at a university, tuition is at my own expense. Some things are offered by the district
Teaching young people keeps me young.

Health insurance: For whom?
It seems to me that health insurances are actually meant for young and healthy people rather than the aged and those with some health problem (who actually need to consult specialists and get various tests done and use medicines). In India, I know from newspaper reports some not-so-well-off (retired) and aged people had to stop taking health insurance due to excessive premium. I really do not understand this unfortunate situation. How can the poor or even middle class people get reasonably good health care? Of course the insurance companies also can not be expected to provide the cost for all the people in India..from where will they get the money? What is the solution? In general what do you think regarding this issue? I know when some doctors were approached with this question they avoided answering by saying – there is no simple answer to this etc.. What do you think?
admin answers:
Well, I’m not sure what your employment situation is now, but if you work full time, most companies provide you health coverage; but depending on where you work at, they’ll cover half or the whole premium. I’m in the same situation; I work for a company that doesn’t offer benefits. I recently graduated college and I’m looking for something full time by the middle of August cause I’m on a medication that cost $155/month. To put it, the health care system is a bunch of bull$h*t. I’m to the point where I just don’t care. I hope Barack Obama pushes universal health care if he gets elected to office.

I have a question about GAD? (General Anxiety Disorder?)?
Well, I have been having TONS of anxiety over almost everything for about 4 in a half years. I never thought it was a disorder until a few months ago. I have not alot, but have some panic attacks. I went to go see my family docter about it, and he diagnosed me with GAD and I have not severe, but mild depression I think. My docter gave me some beta blockers for any big event that I attend that I’m really nervous for. Those things just block the nerves so I don’t get a panic attack and get all anxious and worried. He told me to go see a therapist that studies teen anxiety in the hospital. It cost $240 for one session with a therapist. Our insurance does not cover it, and I was wondering if I should go through with this or not? Will therapy really help and is it really worth it? I’m gonna see the therapist only one or two times, but my parent’s money right now is tight, and I feel bad that it cost so much. My mom said she would do this for me though. Answers are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. (:
admin answers:
Have you considered therapeutic wilderness camps? Most teenagers aren’t impressed with the idea of seeing a counselor or a therapist. In many cases, parents may have gone that route and it didn’t help much at all. Yet the setting for a teen wilderness program is very different. It can serve the purpose of offering therapy where a teen is more likely to open up to a counselor.

What are some requirements for Unemployment insurance in NYC?
I’m wondering what the requirements are, such as:
-How long someone must work before losing/quitting their job
-Age, or any other physical attributes
-Must be looking for a new job (or just waiting till benefits run out?)
Also how much could someone expect to receive? Is it related to how much they were making?
What are the general amounts for people without a job that previously worked at jobs in fields such as (retail, security, construction, office)
—
I know I’m asking alot, and don’t expect one single person to be able to answer it all, so even if you only know the answer to one of these questions – feel free to answer!
Thank you!
